hi all,
just returned from driving a terrific '96 cab...what a beautiful car, especially from the rear.
anyway, wanted to ask/share a few thoughts w/ other p-car owners to get opinion as i was thinking about trading for it, but now not so sure.
1) clutch feels heavier than '89...is that normal? still very comfortable, but definitely stiffer.
2) power asst steering felt very sedan like...not as direct feel.
3) car didn't feel quite as solid(is that right...or perhaps it was just the car i drove?
4) definitely much more power, especially at the lower rpm, but 5th/6th gear seem a bit unnecessary.
5) is it too redundant to try to keep both? or should i try for a coupe as a 2nd? and
6) lastly, what's the best reason to give wife for owning 2 porsches?

The clutch on the 993 should be easier than the '89. Odds are the 993 is fairly worn. As far as sttering feel, I haven't found ANY car that was as communicative as my '87 Coupe. Perfect feel....you get all the information, but it isn't harsh. 993 is definitely "softer", but I didn't find it overboosted at all (unlike my wife's Audi).
I can't answer the last one...hell, I had trouble with *one* p-car

6. By having two cars, you will put fewer miles on them than if you only had one car. Since a Porsche is an investment, you will not only be adding to your investment portfolio, you will be protecting your investments by sharing the miles between the two cars. Think of what you can do with that investment income someday - diamonds for your wife!
