Actually, since the mechanic was unfamiliar with the car and you just bought it, he might have been a little more thorough than usual looking things over while he was in there doing the maintenance. I'd consider it the "non-recurring" cost of getting up to speed on an unfamiliar car.

$2600 for that amount of work is pretty normal. $85 an hour is very typical too and can be borderline cheap in some markets. Fixin's up to $130...his market probably dictates that price.

You can dump $5000 in a hurry on these cars...
