hello all. I have an 86 targa with 85k on it that has been sitting for several years. I changed the plugs, cap and rotor in order to go through smog (california) which it passed with virtually no tailpipe emissions.

It still however has a weird bog just off idle that feels like excessively rick mixture off thottle that cleans up nicely as the revs climb. Its hard for me to believe that its too rich though, as the plugs looked *extremely* clean...too hot if anything.

Does this sound like it could be a bad TPS?

Just offhand, I'd check the operation of the airflow meter. This is the usual cause of such drivability issues. The TPS is pretty reliable.

The other recommendation I'd offer is to pour a large bottle of Techron in there and drive the living crap out of it (if possible) for 100 miles or so. This will loosen and remove the soft carbon buildup that makes all sorts of hesitations and bogs from lean running.
