Question Raising spoiler

I will hopefully be purchasing a 3.2 911 in the spring. One of the things that I wish the car has but doesen't, is the rear spoiler automatically raising at speed, like the 964, 993, 996... I know the obvious answer would be to get a 964 for not too much more, but I like the lines of the 3.2 more. Is there any way to have this installed?? Any ideas, experiences or thoughts are appreciated.

Simply install a 964 lid on the 3.2, many have done this.

Wouldn't there be more to it than this to control it's raising/lowering? I do have to state that I'm not familiar with how the system works, so it may not be an issue at all...

Hi:

One can install the 964 rear decklid/spoiler and a manual activation system.

No problem.

Is it still possible to have it raise on its own at speed as well as the manual activation?? Also, what is the best source for this part?? Find a smashed up 964?? Order the deck lid new?? Any ideas??

This is not easily done on a '69-'89 911 since these cars do not have ABS, thus wheel speed information.

If one was creative, one might be able to build a speedometer interface to provide vehicle speed information and then a box to control the raising & lowering.

LOL,..Seems simpler and far more reliable to just use a switch.

tie a string to it and lead to the gas pedal. Step on the pedal, pull the string

Go to

www.jaycar.com.au

Type "frequency switch" in the search products box and click search.

It costs about 36 Australian Dollars.

This switch reads from a pulse pickup for a speedo or tacho.
My 1976 911s has a pulse pickup on the right side of the 915transmission that I'm going to use.

The switch allows you to turn things on or off according to speed. (wish I could get one for my wife)
anyway have a read of the site.
I hope this helps.

If anyone needs me to send them one I'll be glad to do it for a fellow Porsche lover.

Frank.

Keep in mind the 993 rear spoiler is even more "flush" with the bodywork, therefore will retain the clean lines even better than the 964 spoiler... both look good though.
