Help, How to Start engine?
Vehicle: 1977 Porsche 911S
Hello guys, I just finished putting the engine back in the car. I did a major tune up in the engine, but when I put the engine back in the car, the car is not starting. Here's what I did:
New Spark plugs, new rotor, points(gap set) ignton. cables, new gaskets and seals all around, new valve covers, new air filter, fuel filter, new injection(hoses, sleeves, and gaskets). I did not replace the injectors since they appear to be very clean.
Here is what I hear, when I turn the ignition swith on, I hear the starter turn normally, but the engine wont' start. After I turn it off, I hear like a wistle sound on the left side of the engine by the CD box (Pematune). Also I check the oil pressure and it goes half way immediately as I put the ignition swithc in the on position.
Now, I don't know if the spark plugs or Coil are receiving any current? How do I check this?
I don't know if the injectors are receiving gas, How would I check for this?
When I installed the fuel filter, I installed it with the arrow on the filter pointing down, since it's the way the old filter was. Is this setting correct? or the arrow should point up (Please if you own a 77 Porsche, can you check your fuel filter and tell me with direccion the fuel flow goes, up or down?
Last question: Would the MSD High vibration Coil Blaster work with the permatune CD box? Have you tried this setup? Please let me know.
Any help relating these issues will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance
Louis

I know it's a 1977, but is it upgraded with any sort of security system that could block it from starting? This thread mentions a similar issue: http://www.carcrafter.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36
Good luck.

Did you prime the new filter and the fuel system?
To do this remove the air box cover and filter. Then turn the ignition to just before it starts. Then press up on the sensor plate arm ever so gently. You will hear the gas flowing. When it changes sound you will have primed the system. Don't hold it for too long or you will flood the engine.
I don't know if this helps, but on my 78 the arrow on the filter goes up.
Good luck.
