This is a very personal thing.
To me, if you will definitely mod the look heavily such as lower it with wheels and such, or body work, etc. Racing yellow is my choice.
If you only slightly mod it such as lower and wheel, then keep it the way it is, I vote for gun metal, metalic gray, or silver.

Based on pool's result, you'll just have to ask your heart my friend!!! I'm sure a freshly painted SC will look great both ways...

So far the poll is even! I'm planning on spending some time this weekend working on the paint prep.

Not to highjack your post but how much value is lost if you 1) repaint and 2) repaint with a non orginal color?

My vote-stick with Schwartz. The latest Excellence magazine (the one with the Red Cayman on it) has an article on how to buy an old 911 and do's / don'ts and the author says that a repaint in a non-original color will devalue the car. And others believe that any kind of a repaint will devalue the car (although I don't understand--if the car needs paintwork, it needs paintwork...e)

BTW I don't own a 911(yet) but my DiamantenSchwartz BMW needs paint SOO bad and I'm tempted to change the color but if I got for a repaint I think I'll stick with the color it was born into...

I think that the sc models are now quite affordable that a repaint or color change car will be priced similarly to an orig car, unless it is a flawlwss 100 point concours car. Unless you do a cheepo paint with non matching jams.

Boy, if everyone keeps throwing in 2˘ you're gonna have this project paid for before you know it! I voted for black because I think these cars just look good in black and you don't live in Phoenix. If the body panels aren't really good though black will kill you.

That said, I recall the factory having a lead grey color that was pretty tough. Just... my 2˘.

FYI ˘ = Alt+0162...
