Post oil temp sensor in oil cooler for 87 911

does anyone know the part # for the oil temp sensor in the oil cooler on an 87 911? the one that mounts in the remote oil radiator
that is normally mounted in the right front of an 87 911 3.2. this is the oce that turns on the fan. or better yet the bosch # for one that turns on at a lower temp.
thanks keith

Keith, the part number for the original temperature switch is 930.606.118.00 per the Parts and Technical Reference Catalog.

Unfortunately, I don't know a Bosch number but I am thinking that I would also like to replace mine with one that turns on at a lower temp. And I would rather not install a manual switch so that I can preserve the car's originality for now. Hope someone has an answer!

I'll quote the pelican board's guru Warren Hall:

My feeling is that the factory 'fan kit' is a bit overpriced and that the thermal switch in the kit is wrong for protecting the engine! The fact that there is a shroud that fits is good, but Bruce Anderson has said that the switch doesn't come on until about 257 degrees F, a figure far too high ... in my opinion! I would prefer a 200-210 degree range, and a dashboard swtich would be an easy way to override the oversight, but there are switches for 924/944 fans that are available in four different settings from 71 degrees C thru 92 degrees C ... in the Automotion catalog. Any of those switches would be preferable to the factory 125 degree C switch!

Guys,
It is easy to wire in a switch to fool the relay into starting the fan. I used a rear wiper switch in an unused hole under the lip of the dash just below the gages. You can feel the cutout in the tin for the switch through the vinyl.
I fire up the fan when the needle goes 1/4 above the lower white mark. There are many ways to be happy.

ned,
just got a reply on pelicans board about
avaiable switchs from pelican. part#
61-31-1-364-273 for a 99c switch and #
61-31-364-27291 for a 91c switch both at
$18.50 each.they even have pictures, the
only thing i,m trying to figure out is the lower temp switchs have two contacts instead of one but i,ve already e-mailed pelican for wiring instructions and as soon as they send that i,m going to order one or both. thanks to everone for the posts i hope we,ve found the answer.
