Post What does "C2" mean in Porsche talk?

I am looking at (Long distance)a 1987 911 that the owner has changed to what he calls C2 bumpers, side skirts, and lights......Is this a good thing? Or has he ruined it.
Looks good to my eyes.

Well, that all depends on how you like the 964 look. I think that's what he means by C2. I think the 964's were much better for their mechanics than their cosmetics. I doubt the car is "ruined". But those types of "upgrades" probably do not add value.

Rob,

That's it. The guy has made the Carrera look like a '89-'94 911 (C-2). Has he also added the C2 rockers? BTW, largely as a result of the front end, the C2 was more aerodynamic than the Carrera. It's not a bad look at all.

Does the seller still have the original front & rear bumpers? The car is easily changed back should you ever care to revert to the original look.

If the price is right, buy it and drive it.To go back to original it pretty easy, parts are easy to get. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

If it's a good, quality conversion, I would certainly consider it a good purchase...check the installation of the body panels and front end pieces, if "shoddy" work, you're in for trouble later.

The front end of a factory 964 holds a CD of .32 - not bad at all...and the rocker bumper changeout surely shaved some weight off the car.

Like Richard said, I'm sure it is easily converted back, but double check...and by all means see if he has all the original parts and use that as a bargaining tool.
