Default Rebuilding the suspension in a 1969 911E

Guys,

First post here. Impressive site !!!!

My car is 37 years old and the suspension has upgraded 911S front and standard rear.

I am thinking of replacing the bushings. The car is lowered to a "fast road setting - read low" and you may have seen pictures on other web forums.

I don't do alot of track work, and wonder if:
- I should go with standard bushings all around
- go with some standard bushings, or something else?
- some folks have talked about monoballs

I need some guideance, and trust you can give me some practical advise.

Best Regards
Dom Toni

Hi Dom:

Without question, the rubber bushings on 911's do not forever and the handling/ride quality deteriorates as the bushings do,....

Here are your options:

1) If you want rubber bushings, you'll have to replace the front control arms and rear spring plates with new factory items as they are vulcanized in place and not sold separately.

2) Thermoplastic bushings are available, but they do tend to squeak and bind over time unless disassembled and regreased.

3) Elephant Racing makes a Poly-Bronze bushing kit for the front A-arms and rear spring plates that is super. These feature steel & bronze bearing materials and have zerk fittings to keep them lubricated. The real benefit over the others is improved ride quality due to reduced friction.

Stay away from any monoballs unless its a dedicated race car.

Hope this helps,
