Default Retro Fit Opening Quarterlight?

I have an 83 SC and would like to retro fit an opening quarterlight on the drivers side (RHD) - is this possible and has anyone done it?

Cheers

I'll assume that you are referring to the rear 1/4 window.

This is actually not an easy project, but it can be done if you are serious about doing it.
Read about my project on my 84 Carrera here,
here, and
here.
Good luck

& if you mean the front - then I've done it to a '73 so you should be able to do it also - you need the window frames from a car with the opening F vents.

Thanks Randy - I did mean the front.
Are the window frames all you need and is it a bolt in replacement or did things need to be modified to fit?

Regards

I think it is a bolt in but I had a shop do it. You need the whole frame with the vent - not sure if the rectangualr glass is needed or not - get teh parts catalog and start matching p/n's to find out.

There are two types of frames - Al (used in later Targas, I think) and brass (early frames I think). The Al ones are lighter but are said to bend and not seal well (but if that was true then why did P AG go with Al later on?).

So -- that is pretty much the end of my knowledge. Dunno where you live but it will pay to look around for a shop that has done this before and knows what they are doing. I think it will be worth it to pay for replating of the brass ones - I nver see ones in great shape... esp. the bolt head for the wind wing itself.

Good luck.

Oh yeh - try some searches and if nothing pops up, posts on both Pelican and Early 911s forums - the latter has a lot of experts who know the early cars well.
