I know that Porsche recommends air bag replacement at 15 years from date of mfg. Has anyone having a 89-91 964 done this yet, and if so, the cost of doing it at the dealer?
I spent some time search prior threads and did not see much on this subject, so I am wondering if those with 15 year 964's are just not doing it.

So it's been four years since this thread was started...has anyone done it?

It's really not necessary. The ten or 15 year timescale given by manufacturers is a safety catch all with a huge margin. The replacement criteria is based on temperature cycling between -20degCup to +100degC on a regular basis. If your car experiences this on a regular basis then there is some potential that the propellant in the airbag may have degraded after fifteen years. Since most cars will never see these sort of extreme conditions even once in their life then the internals of the airbag have an almost indefinite life.
I used to work as a n Engineer for a company that made airbag modules. I have had several cars that have been over fifteen years old. I've never changed an airbag module on any of them.
