Hi All - After lots of dreaming, decided to find / buy the best '87 - '89 Carrera I could locate - Found my car on the PCA website - '89 Carrera coupe, Linen grey exterior w/ Black - All original, 42K miles, with all the records (including the window sticker....) Only problem: I'm in Seattle and the car is in Virginia....Bit the bullet and went back to see the car - Love at first sight...Absolutely gorgeous, just as represented by the owner - Had a PPI completed by a top shop in Va, did the deal, and now I'm anxiously awaiting it's cross-country delevery .

I've really enjoyed the Rennlist forum - Certainly has helped in my quest. Looking forward to the journey - I'll keep you all posted!

How long did you look for? It took me a good year to find mine.

Welcome Marco! I have purchased two 964's from a distance without issues also, both from Rennlisters. Only thing you missed out on is the adventure of the the drive back! I drove 900 miles to bring the 1st one home (Atlanta, GA to CT) and about 1200 for the 2nd (Tulsa, OK to CT). It really puts you in tune with the car.. would do it again in a second!

Enjoy, post PICS when she gets home!!

You opted not to drive it back? That would have been a dream trip if there ever was one.

Thanks for ther nice comments - Would've liked to drive it back to the NW, but alas, not enough time to do it right....Of course, it's STILL in VA waiting to get picked up by Dependable Auto - keeping my fingers crossed their performance is up to their name! Photos to follow when it gets here!

Marco,

Congrats on your purchase. It sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I have purchased mine yet it won’t make it to my location for another 9 days. It contracted to purchase it 4 weeks ago. The waiting is incredibly hard.

The smartest thing I did was cancel my delivery (no patience to wait a week), fly down to Charlotte and drive back my '87 home to Michigan. Best motoring trip my wife and I ever had!

Congratulations on your new purchase.

Jeez guys - last Saturday I opened up the local paper to find a new ad for a '88 black on black two-owner car across town. By 1:00p I had driven it, and by 3:00p the seller had my deposit. Totally stock, excellent shape. Picked it up this Monday. Sometimes ya gets lucky.

Congratulations on the purchase. Despite the advice of the seller, I flew down to Houston and drove my '87 all the way back up to New York City ... 2,000 miles of my best trip ever!! Do not hesitate if you have the chance.

Enjoy your car,

Congrats, MarcoB! I'm in VA, an hour West of DC, if you need any help on this side of the country. If needed, I would bet you can find a PCA member just about anywhere in the country who is willing to lend a hand if you have troubles.

I agree with the others. If you have time I recommend signing up for AAA and PCA and flying down to drive your prize home.
