Default Can you help me with the value of this??

I have taken a very quick look at this car , but am new to the Porsche world. I am very interested what experienced fanatics think of this and what I might look for. The current owner has had a reputable mechanic in the area do work on it (rebuilt the carbs) and has referred me to him. I plan on speaking to him, but not sure what the real value of this car should be. Thanks!

Hi Roswell,

Excellence Magazine posts values for cars based upon sales figures. If you need that amount, I could try to look at back issues.

Additionally, you MUST get a Pre Purchase Inspection (PPI) by a mechanic that is not associated with your seller's mechanic. See the locked post on the site for details on that process.

In the end, if this car is right for you and the PPI proves all to be correct, we'll expect to see you here often.

Good luck, Tom

The car looks & sounds good . . . but of course, they ALL do.

By all means, talk to his mechanic. But get a PPI from an independent shop who knows older cars. Looks like a lot of work has been done which saves you time & $s if all is well. But rust is the curse of an older car & it will need a good look by an expert.

For value check, look at the for sale area on Pelican. Here Good luck.

rust the one "baddie" you can't bolt on or easily fix. I believe 78 on is a fully galvanized body (certainly 80 on).

Car looks great!

Default Thanks for the help.....any additional info on the potential value would be helpful

Tom, I appreciate your offer to help dig up the value. I am a rookie at this, so any advice I can get is valuable. Thanks to all for the insight and advice. If I get serious about this one I will definitley go for an outside PPI.

Since I have only been looking for a few months and am willing to be patient for the right car, any advice from anyone on the best 911 year(s) I should look at?

Thanks.
