Well, I went out to take a ride in this nice weather and the car wouldn't start. All the lights/gauges, radio, etc will come on but the engine will not turn over. It just clicks. Could it be the battery or the starter or both?? I've heard the starters on the Carreras (mine's an 84) have issues. Any thoughts?

 

battery first! try to jump start. or take the battery to the local autoparts store and have it tested

 

Just pulled the battery and am taking it over to Kragen to get it tested.

 

Most likely the battery , the trick is to turn on the lights, if they go dim or out while starting it is usually the battery , if they stay brightly lit it is usually the starter solenoid or motor

 

Thanks everyone. Pulled the battery and had it tested. Only at 12.2 volts and wouldn't hold a charge. It was mfg in 12/97 so it lasted more than what I thought it would. Put a new one in and it started right up.

Now, back to driving!!
