Default Oil grade for new york region - winter vs summer

Sorry if I ask a question that was already discussed to death, but I am curious to know what grade of oil is used by other rennlisters in the New York region. I currently use 20-50w (havoline) and was wondering if I should go down to 10-40w for the winter.

Thanks,

Thats a VERY good idea for your climate unless you use a synthetic oil.

Exactly what I did last year. Thought about the 5-40 VW Diesel oil too. In the owner's manual is a recommendation of oil weight vs. ambient temps. I scanned & posted a copy last winter IIRC.

Thanks a lot guys - I am new to Porsche ownership and slowly learning about all this (slowly being the key word!).
