My 82 911 sc will soon be in need of rear tires. Currently have Michelin Sport XGT P225/50. The front have quite a bit of wear left. Any ramifications to running a different brand on the back until the front wear down??
A different set of tires will give you a different handling characteristic. If you only drive to the supermarket and back it probably doesn't matter. Anything else and you should have matching tires all the way around. Since our rears wear out at 2x the front, it pays to consider newer tire designs rather than older tires, ie, buying RE71's, which has been a staple for many years, may not be the best choice today, since they've been discontinued.

Is the Sport XGT the same as the Pilot XGT series, which was introduced in 1996? You probably know that Porsche recommends not driving on tires older than 6 years old.
