Default Weber or PMO?

Hello fellow listers:

I am currently in the process of rebuilding my 40 IDA's and have been reading a lot about PMO's.

Which carb delivers the most hp? It looks like PMO's but by how much??

It also looks like the PMO fuel rail is a nice addition to the Webers.

Thanks, Tom

Tom:

The decision to use PMO's is not about HP, its about drivability.

PMO's are far far better than Weber's in every way including longevity.

That said, a 40mm PMO flows a bit more air due to differences in the top casting. This would ONLY make a difference on a race-type, high RPM engine.

In your case, any differences would be defined by the particulars of your motor.

Thanks Steve,

Since my Webers are cleaning up pretty well, I'll stick with them for the near future, but I didn't want to give up 450 hp with the PMO difference.

PMO's are extremely accurate in equalizing combustion EGT differentials anong cylinders if adjusted properly, although I wouldn't dump a good set of Webers for them.
