Hi all,

I've had this car for about 6 mths and maybe 3 or 4 times , when still cold, the engine has stopeed as I've come to a stop in neutral.

Also, only twice, when I've started the engine while still warm (stopped for maybe 10 mins), it has revved up and down between about 600 and 1500rpm with no pressure on the accelerator. The first time a guy up the road fixed it by putting his hand on the engine (true) and the next time I just turned the emotor off and restarted.

Any suggestions/ideas?

I had idle hunting issue like yours but car engine didn't stop. It turned out to be a faulty idle positioner.

There are lots of threads on idle surging. I had a similar problem. I replaced lots of parts before someone suggested I get the mixture adjusted. Problem solved!

When you have an idle problem on '84-'89 3.2, always start by checking that the
idle switch (pins 2 & 5 on the Motronic) is closing properly with the throttle at rest.
