Post 78 911 sc

i have a 78 911 wide body grey market car which has been sitting for about 11 or 12 years after replacing the fuel pump , the injectors cap rotor wires plugs , warm up regulator , cleaning and rebuilding the fuel distributor the motor still doesn't idle . then after referring to Bentley 911 SC manual i discover that my 911 distributor turns counter clockwise
rather than clockwise do i use the same firing order
in reverse?

TNS,

Unless the Bentley SC Manual has been revised, and you have the UPDATED version, what originally appeared on page 280-2 (Ignition System), under "Firing Order" is INCORRECT. It states under 'NOTE' - The ignition rotor turns in a COUNTERCLOCK

.. OPPS! SORRY!!...when I realized I was typing 'COUNTER', I somehow wound up posting. *S* It states that the ignition rotor turns in a CLOCKWISE direction". If your car still has the 'stickers' when you open the engine lid, the diagram shows that it turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE, along with the firing order Michael B. listed above.

TNSlongIsland,
Check your fuel delivery pressure, check for ignition (spark) using stroboscope type timing light and a fully charged battery. Assuming that your timing is not that far off, your engine should start if you have fuel, ignition, sufficient cranking power.

Were you able to start the engine momentarily? Good luck.....
