It's time for new tires on my 82 SC. Thinking about going from 225 50 16s to 245 45 16s in the rear. Is there realy that much difference?

You don't say what size wheels you have on the car.
If your SC has the Fuchs that it originally came with, there is a 99% chance you have 7 inch rear wheels. That is too small to use a 245, it would look ridiculous and wouldn't handle well. And could be dangerous.
If you have 8s on the back . . . people have done 245s on 8s. I personally wouldn't, though.
It is almost impossible that you have 9s already on the car.
So, in conclusion, there isn't much difference, but if you want to go to 245s you should buy some 9s to do it. Be warned, 9s are very expensive!

Thanks for the replys.
I've got 7s on the rears but my local tire guy said they would fit. I had my doubts thats why I consulted the "Rennlist Experts". You guys never cease to amaze me!
Since it's mainly a weekender and only do a few track days a year I think I'll stick with the 225s.
Thanks again,
Doug
