Default Original Equipment Speedomter on SC

What is the proper speedometer for a 1978 911SC in the U.S.? The speedometer I have is a 150mph one. Does anyone know if the car came with this or did they come with 85mph speedometers. The reason for my question is I have documentation back 10 years that validates the mileage shown but I read somewhere that SC’s had 85 mph speedometers. Which in my case would invalidate the mileage.

I have tried searching this forum unsuccessfully. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I just picked up a (Texas) '78 SC with a 150mph speedo.

Hope that helps!

Bill: I think that the 85 mph unit came into play in '80, but to be sure call your local dealer. Their parts info will show which is which...
