Post Vin Plate Gone !

The body shop did a fine job replacing the driver side lock post for me, but they discarded the old one along with the vin plate I'd like to put one back. Any suggestions/sources ?

Cool

You can go to your local Porsche dealer parts counter and order one. Take your registration, title, and car with you. I have been told this works and recently ordered a replacement for my car. The gentleman at the counter says it costs about $10 and I have heard as high as $25 from other sources. It can take quite some time as this is a custom item from Germany and they will make it when they get around to it. Still worth a try.

Cool

Will the factory make one for a 914/6? I don't think so, because I tried to get one and ran into a stone wall !! If enough people want one, maybe someone could be convinced to make custom copies......? <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

I am faced with a similiar need to replace the door lock post (rust) on my '85 Targa. If you don't mind sharing with me... what exactly did you have done (cut out and replace planel ?? etc) and what did it cost ?? I'd like to get a ball park before I get a quote. I already have sourced the lock post replacement panel from Restoration Design (seems like good quality) I'd appreciate any comments.
