Hi 84 Carrera,

I would replace the cylinder head temp sensor first. I had exactly the same issues.

That would be jig, not gig. Yes, it is disproportionate. YOu catually committed a tort and most likely a crime. If what you say is true, and not mere puffery, you are a very lucky person -- they could have sued you for everything you own and no doubt won. Or they could have shot you...

Randy
You might be right and yes it was the wrong thing to do but in the heat of the moment things happen
Many years ago and no doubt it wouldnt happen again.
By the way that would be actually not catually

emac - you committed a pastry?

Had I been in the SHO, I probably would have considered slamming my door open into hers as well, but no sense making things worse on my p-car.

One likes to think they're better than that, but in the "heat of battle" we've all done stupid things, I'm sure.

tart = pastry; tort = civil suit -- the latter is a lot more expensive!

If you do something - make sure it can't be proven.... Even better don't get hot in the heat of the many moments that generate heat.

Actually Randy, I thought the same thing, but my mom's referred to certain pastries as "tort", so I looked into it online. Apparently a tort is also a layered / filled pastry as well.

http://elt.britcoun.org.pl/o_confdict.htm, one of many "+tort +pastry" results online.

Interestingly enough... one may find either one is not suited to their taste.

But I'm an American - I don't speak English.

Ah, and herein lies the problem... an '"e":

Torte:
A rich cake made with many eggs and little flour and usually containing chopped nuts.

And with that, I apologize for being so off-topic & let it go.

Oh, and after a couple of good days, the 911 left me stranded again yesterday. She's in the garage now until the HTS comes in. Damn.

no apology needed -- it's a useful excursion into my attempt at tieing it into Porsche....

Where can you go to get a good torte after taking the factory tour in Stuttgart?

Ok, back on track...

I replaced the HTS today (thanks to Pelican for getting that out to me as promised). What A freakin' PITA getting that rubber grommet out, & the new one back in.

I used Ye Olde Bench Grinder to hack a 14mm deep to snug the sensor in, as described previously.

I also took the opportunity to install the HeetSheets I got from Seine last month. Would have also replaced the clutch helper spring but didn't have all the shop tools at home, and didn't want to risk getting stranded on the way up there.

On the run afterward, I did not have the same condition as before. I went about 10 miles "around the block", filled the tank (20.74 gal... thought it was a 20 gal tank?), and went out again for another 15 miles or so, where I encountered an evil-looking black Ram Air Trans Am (aka Batmobile), who proceeded to walk me on the straightaway up to about 120 or so ~4700 in 5th; my speedo crapped out on the run).

I did have a very slight hesitation, and a barely audible poppng here & there - wondering if I may have fouled the plugs running that rich recently, or if the O2 isn't up to snuff (probably replace it shortly anyway, as it's likely 21 years old).

Thanks for everyone's input, I'll let you know what happens this weeked - there'a a Cape Cod run from Braintree MA this Sunday a friend of mine is hosting, and I'd like to get out for a nice drive if possible.

So onto my next post... "what, where & how difficult is replacing whatever sensor on the trans(?) that's crapping out killing off my speedo every now & again?"

Running the tank that low sucked the bottom junk in to your fuel filter. The hesitation could have been fuel flow related.

I'll agree with Alan on that - hopefully you got a replacement fuel filter.

HTS sensor - What do I win?

I second what Alan said, replace the fuel filter too!

Steve
