Default odometer repair

I need to get my odometer repaired. Any good companies I should use? I hear there is a repair kit, but I dont know how much finesse is needed for this repair. What is a fair price for having the odometer repaired? If any of you have had negative experiences with any companies who do this, please share. I would like to avoid them.
Thanks,
Mike

I just had some great business with Speedometers Plus in L.A.. Jacob replaced my entire shaft unit and calibrated my speedo after I broke the shaft installing my new gauge faces. If you ever do the gauge face job, be very careful with the speedo needle . Very tedious job and the needle does not just pop off easily. If it aint broke don't fix it rule should have applied here, but, the end result is fabulous after a $200 investment. I crossed the wires and blew the diodes and he fixed it for free. Great guy! http://www.SPEEDOMETERPLUS.COM My speedo always ran fast before. Good Luck. Ron

I've had work done at North Hollywood, and would also recommend them. They converted my 85mph speedo to a 150mph face and recalibrated it. The recalibration was spot on, so 30 was 30, 50 was 50, etc.

How much did that conversion cost?
'm looking at an 81 and would like to do this if I get it. Also the odometer needs to be repaired.

Jay,

As I recall (receipt went with the 81SC when I sold it), it was around $140 for the new face, a new plastic wheel on the odometer, and the recalibration.
