Post Please sombody confirm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an 85 911 and would love to know the CORRECT torque settings for the oil drain plug on the crank case and the oil tank.I have a Bentley manual and owners manual and have called 2 dealers and all have different answers to this seemingly simple question.PLEASE reply if you are sure of your answer!!!! 51,41,40,30,32 lbs/ft have been some of the answers I have had,,,Please help!!

According to Wayne Dempsey's 101 Projects for your Porsche 911, the correct torque for both plugs is 42 N-m or 30.8 ft-lbs. See page 20 of his book.

Yep - I can confirm what Jim says. The Bentley Manual, however, says 30.8 for the oil tank plug and 50.8 for the crank case plug.

I tried tighttening to a excat torques on the cold garage floor in poor light. Best bet to pull snug, if you are careful and slow you can feel the crush ring "give" then you know you're done.

140lbs for the oil tank plug then check for leaks. Remember snap on tools only and a fresh compression ring. Good luck!!!!!!!
