Default Reducing body flex.

For those who have done it what is the proven way(s) to reduce body flex. Mine is an 84 Targa. I have seen several "fixes" for tightening the body.

I don't mind losing use of the rear seats but a roll cage is probably a last option.

Are you willing to lose the use of the top? Problem with Targa is that the windshied header and roll bar are not structurally connected. This allows the body to flex front to back and torsionally at the rocker boxes.

If you created a metal replacement roof panel and welded it to the windshield header and the roll bar, you would create a box section similar to the coupe. This would eliminate fore/aft flex, and greatly increase torsional strength without using any additional space. As an alternative, you could create a solid roof panel that bolts in and out to frames welded to the header and roll bar... this would make the panel somewhat removeable.

IMHO installing a roll cage in a street car presents safety issues.... without a helmet, the roll cage presents alot of strong metal stuff to bang your head (and other body parts) against in an accident... I would be very careful about this
