I don't know if this helps you much, but I just had my new 911 82SC insured in Miami with High Liability 300/500 for $1500/yr. I'm 27 with a good record. Whatever the cost it is well worth it!

Cheers,
Marc

If you get collector's insurance, you can get agreed-upon value coverage for ridiculously low prices. I was quoted about $350/year on my 73T with an agreed $20,000 value. The catch with many of the policies is an annual mileage limit (typically 5000), but not all carriers do this. The other catch is that you have to prove that the car is not your daily driver (you must have another car insured in your name with a normal policy), and -- at least with the company I talked to -- you can't participate in DEs or races. As a result, I got DE-only insurance, with coverage for all non-timed, non-competitive track events, for $300/year. It's not bad, but I still need to keep my street policy for when I'm not on the track.

I have my '73 with the same carrier as my other cars. It is listed as a "pleasure" car with limited (7,500 miles/year). I have full coverage with normal deductables ($250 collison/$50 comp) for about $700/year. DE is ok but not racing.

I have a restrictive policy pretty much as described by Jack above. Don't know if I am going to stay within the 5000 miles this year. Also, I have a company car and had to get a statement that it was available for full time use. All other drivers in the household had to be accounted for. Also my 2 teen age boys had to sign statements indicating they were exempt from driving and that they were aware of the ramifications if they did drive the vehicle and got in an accident. My premium is $400 and some change a year through Leland. Also you have to join the PCA which tacks another $40.00 on to the tab. I'll try it this year and see how it goes.

Hi - I've got a 1973 911T thats is a solid category 2. I have it insured with a classic car insurance company here in Toronto called Silver Wheels.

Believe it or not, my deductible is $100 and my yearly premium is under $200Cdn ($120US).

Restrictions are some of the same as I've seen mentioned previously (ie: 5000 miles a year, weekends, and shows - can't be driven to work, etc.)

This company is highly respected here in Canada - most PCA members with older cars, like 15 years and older, use this guy.

Hope this helps.

I use JC Taylor on my 76 targa, appraised at $10,000
no deductible,2500 mile limit, signed letter stating my 17yr old daughter won't be driving it,$106/yr.I recommend them highly.I had to put in two claims over the years, they were very prompt in their payment and one was a total from a freak fire.Check them out they're on the web and advertise in Hemmings.

I pay $149 per year for my 1970 911S Targa with an agree-to value of $20,000 to Classic Collectors Insurance from Great American Insurance Companies. This is PL/PD and Comp insurance suitable for California. They reserve the right to charge more if I exceed 2,500 miles. I recently got a quote of $118 for the same coverage from American Collectors Insurance. You can get an online quote at www.AmericanCollectorsIns.com. Another company to check out is Leland (don't know how to reach them).
