Looks like you should thank your friend for a helluva deal ( nice color to).
Dealers never offer what you could get on the open market( especially in January). Your fried should have been able to get at leat few G's more if he sold it himself.

Deons, it looks like an early production 87 from the Redbook, which means it should have the G50 (same tranny as yours), that's a great buy! G50 cars usually get over 20 easy!

According to Redbook. The "H" in the vin means it's an 87'. "G" was 86'. Great deal. Just shows how bad the market is right now. Probably best time ever to buy a used Porsche.

What year does the title show? It MUST state the year by law (at least in Utah) based on the vin number.
Also, on my '86 911 Carrera, when I open the drivers door, there is a plate on the body with all the vitals. It has the vin as well as in the upper right corner the date the car was manufactured. In my case it states 04 86. Hope this helps.
