Question Early 911 Chain Tensioners

I recently purchased a 72' E - hasn't run in a couple of years. I now have it running again and would like a little insurance against tensioner failure until I determine what engine issues might need addressing. I am planning on installing a set of the stop collars until I pull the engine for a freshening. I need to know what the clearance or spacing should be for the collar on the tensioner shaft - Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
