Glad you got the SSIs (or lack thereof) figured out, that is what I thought, unless yours are falling off due to rust you don't need fancy new "identical but shinier" ones.

A/C? You buy a complete system from any member who's going thru a "lighyweight" crisis, for peanuts ;-) I gave away mine from another car, but I am keeping the one on my 73, it actually works better than the later models ! (more vents)

My understanding is that Mahle now has 2.7L p/c sets above 8.5 to 1. You may also raise the compression ratio by stretching the rods 1 mm. But why do that when you can now buy higher comp. p/c sets?

Ron - Do you know the compression ratios available for the Mahle 2.7's?

Grant,
Not to hijack but this looks like your car in Hershey 2003.
Did you drive to Hershey from Denver?

If so, some dedication!

It took more dedication than that - but not mine. Builder/PO drove it from Montreal to Florida for Porsche Parade and then to Denver when I made him an offer on the phone...

He took it roundtrip to Hershey from Montreal previously.

Those 2 trips accounted for almost 100% of the mileage on the car at delivery. Even more impressive if you consider the Racing tires, racing bucket seats with harnesses and very firm coilovers

Grant, they are at least 9.5 to 1 I seem to remember. Why not call Andial and ask them? They sell those sets. http://www.andial.com/

Hi Grant:

Mahle made a short run of 90mm sets in 9.5:1 (thereabouts) although the final CR will depend on one's head volumes.

I've not seen the 10.2:1, 90mm ones in quite some time.

Thanks, Steve! I was told that my 2.7 was built with 9.5:1 Mahles, but could never confirm that they were ever made (or if made that I have them). Sure drives like it though

You are quite welcome,....

The higher compression versions enable these things to accelerate with greater 'authority' in the 1500-4000 RPM range.
