Unhappy Engine dies when oil cap is removed

When I take the oil tank cap off while the engine is running, the engine dies. Car is an 84 Cabriolet with Euro style oil cooler. Engine is a rebuilt 3.2 Liter that came from a 72 Carrera. The engine didn't do this in the 72 Carrera. Is there a way to keep the engine running when the oil cap is removed?

see if there's still a cone shaped restrictor inside the breather hose by the filler cap.

I recently transplanted a 3.0 into my 76 911S, my breather doesn't have the restrictor at the oil tank, but the 90 degree elbow that the hose connects to at the intake boot has a restrictor. Check there also. I've seen restrictors at both locations (one or the other).
