Post Lubro Moly Oil Saver? Anyone...

My oil consumption seems a bit high to me (maybe 600 miles per quart - although I got 400 miles after my last track day). Has anyone tried the Lubro Moly Oil Saver as shown in this link. Does it work?

Also, I just did my first P-car DIY oil change and basic service and the oil came out dark brown. Is this normal (as opposed to the almost golden color it is in the bottle). Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I thought you could get a feel for the engine based on how the dirty oil looks at oil change time.

Anyone? Anyone? Noonan?

Come on - someone has to have tried this. It sure sounds like a good idea.

I avoid adding any additivies to my oil, also not recommended by Porsche. Oil turning dark is not uncommon, most likely caused by combustion leakage past piston rings, moisture etc.

Thanks Walt - I was suprised the oil was so dark as it only had about 2500 miles on it. As for oil additives, I know Porsche used to take the same stance on fuel additives until recently when they said that Techron and Jectron do in fact help. I figured they might have said the same about Oil Saver type products.

The car runs fine and has good compression and leakdown - it just burns more oil than I would like to see.
