Repaint cost ?
What's a fair price these days for a full 911 repaint - assuming no rust repair ?
Assumptions :
- Color change, not second coat of the same
- not in california (where everything seem more $$$)
- I can "gut" the car and deliver if mostly ready to work on (no glass, no bumpers, no trim, lights, chrome or ancillaries in the way).
- want a Metallic color
- Don't care to have the engine bay or front trunk repainted
Thx !
Greg.

I recently saw a 1979 911 sc with an excellent paint job. It was a metallic grey with a really deep clear coat. The owner said it cost $2700 from a shop in Tacoma, WA. It was show quality.

If your going to all the trouble to change the color, which is a no-no from my stand point, then you should do the engine bay and trunk and wheel housings too, if not it will severly detract from the resale even more than a non original color so don't shot yourself in both feet.
1o it right, strip and replace the seals
2:let the BODYSHOP reassemble the car as you dont want to be the one responsible for damaging your new paint (and you will, it always happens)
3: you get what you pay for, and paint makes or breaks a car, find a reputable shop.
4:estimates will always be all over the board but I would venture $5000 for a good recolor in and out done proper with new seals.

It's ano-no on an original car, I agree, but mine is not and is already non-matching the original color so who cares ;-)
Point taken on the reassembly, you're absolutely right there !
