Aftermarket Armrest
I've been toying with the idea of getting one of these...

Anyone have one these in the car?

a buddy of mine has one. In the down position it obscures the heater ****. The seat belt connects are right there also. Sitting in the passenger seat your left arm rubs it. But if you need something to put junk in, it does the job. I think in the up position it rubs the seat back also. Depends on your seats.
Good quality though and his color match (blue) is good

JBO - more info please? I'm desperately trying to find a decent cupholder / compartment for my 84. Originally looked at the Bird unit, like the design but didn't want to drop $500 on one; also worried about the narrow space between the seats (and wondering how it'd work with the soon-to-be-installed roll bar & possibly future Recaros, etc.).

I am curious as well, because I have coffee cup so large that it has to sit on the floor because there are NO decent cupholders for a 911. I might be pursuaded into a smaller cup if this is the way to go. I'd love to put my coffee somewhere that would help keep it upright.
I too tried the armrest thing. It really wasn'y very good at all not functional and got in the way of driving. My resolve was a spill proof mug from Brookstones.Even fits well between the seats
As a drive-500-miles-to-the-track guy, I'll mention that elbow support on both sides can reduce fatigue and neck pain on long drives. However, it should be removeable, since it will also get in the way of your elbows when you're in a more 'active' driving mode.
Also, the best place for a cup holder is on the leading edge of the driver's door panel, near the window crank (although in the case of my car, the window crank was shortened so it wouldn't hit the cage.)

Jack - I like the placement, but that seems to be where my electric window switches are.
I was looking at the folding-style, thinking maybe on the pass. side of the center console.
I also drive to the track (with the SHO though - 4 tires instead of a back seat, and a trunk full of tools, jack, rotors, pads, luggage, etc)... kind of hurt when I blew the motor 1100 miles from home at Road Atlanta last fall though. $1k worth of one-way uhaul truck & trailer, gas for the guzzling V10 on the way home, and tolls (anyone else ever spend $40 in tolls driving home from the track?).

I thought that was a fire extinguisher at first glance, thought you had gone nuts..........................lol
I assume it must be all those long straight roads in the states that mean you need cup holders, I can't imagine having the time between gear changes, corners, pot-holes etc to sip a cup of coffee in my 930.
