Default 1980 SC parts and PPI info?

Is there an online source for good quality restoration parts, i.e. original seat covers, rugs, dash pad replacement, seals, etc? I'm used to the British car end of things with Victoria British, Moss Motors, and others and am new to P-Car restoration.

Also, any idea of a good place to get a PPI done in the Studio City area in CA?

Thanks!

Got an answer on the parts, looks like Tweeks and Vertex Auto will do for a start, though they sell a "Dash Cover" and not the dash itself...

I'm sure some of the Left Coasters will chime in with PPI suggestions. For parts, there are many, many sources. Pelican Parts, who also have a great forum, are favorites of many.

I have a list of some of the resources available here: Resource List

I was told a place called Don & Aurel's in North Hollywood is good and by chance that is where the car has been worked on. Any input on them? I mainly want a leak-down and compression test done but I sent the owner Peter Zimmerman's PPI list from this site to be sure they do it correctly...

Performance Products is good as well. I jut purchased an '80 SC myself. Question: why an SC when you have the 997S?? Nothing agaist SC's, I LOVE mine!

Also check out Just Dashes for dash restoration. I hear they are great and reasonable. I looked into them when I had my 1970 911T.

Yeah Gary, Julia brings up an interesting question. Why are you looking at an SC? And how do you like your 997?

Absolutely love my 997S. Heres the thing. I had a 1980 SC back in the eighties for a couple months (the eighties are a bit of a "blur" to me.. ) and saw what appears to be a very good deal on this car. I just finished a 5 year restoration on a TR6 and now its gone, wouldn't mind putting some time in an 80SC and re-sell it after I've had some fun. All will depend on the PPI and where the prices goes after the report.

Hey Julia, did you buy the same "skippy" I saw advertised here? Looks like a great car!

Addendum: The car just went over what i'm willing to spend regardless of the outcome of a PPI . It looks like some kid (judgeing by his history of buying Buffy posters) that is just going to mess up the works but maybe not, you never know. Either way thanks for the help, guess i'm stuck with my 997 for now..

I'm sorry you have to suffer with that 997 Gary... I like your reminiscing about the 80's. I graduated from high school the year Skippy was born and YES that is the Skippy that was advertised here and on Pelican. What a great car. He is even cleaner than Roland had him. I've cleaned with wheel wells even more, the trunk is spotless and I've "Dr. Jackson'd" the interior and used 303 to protect it. There is one tiny tear in the headliner that I need to glue and then I don't think it will even be visable. I just purchased an original spare tire compressor on E-Bay so here's hoping I get Skippy in the Shriner's Concour this June. I will enter him in Street or Wash & Shine class. The only difference being the engine compartment is judged for Street class.

So I'm guessin' you're not the Buffy fan that seems to want the 82?

Yeah your car is more refined. Faster. Real AC. Under warranty. But it ain't got the same smell or sound . . .

Suffer. It will eat at you.
