Do I have the cylinder head fix?

Do I have the cylinder head fix?
Hi all,
I've just removed the cylinder head off my 92 C2. To my surprise, the mating surface on the cylinder and the head is smooth. There is no groove or anything. There seemed a remant of a thin seal or something, but that's it.
My question is that on a 92 N series engine, should there be any groove or something to indicate a cylinder head fix?
Anyone has pictures of early vs. later style cylinder head and cylinder mating surface?
I will post pictures later.
thanks,
anthony

Okay, I figured it out. I do have the groove in my cylinder. The factory installed graphite gasket completely filled the groove and made it looked like a flat no-groove cylinder surface. I was able to scrape some of the graphite gasket material away.

Now the question is how do I clean th rest of the graphite gasket so I can install the steel ring?
