Default Interior Shop Recommendations?

While I'm driving my 996 around these days, my 1974 Targa sits patiently under a cover waiting for summer. (Damn thing leaks so much during the rainy season!)

One thing I haven't spent much time trying to restore are the seats in my car. They have been covered by sheepskins since I've owned it. They look pretty ratty. Does anyone know of a good upholstery shop either in Santa Monica or the Valley? I want to maintain the original pattern and style of the 1974 vintage but don't want to get killed on the price.

Many thanks.

Hoopy: You might consider removing your seats and sending them either to Autos International or World Upholstery. Both are in Southern California.

Otherwise, you can purchase pre-made upholstery kits for your car from both of these vendors, and then have a local shop install them. I've used Henry's Upholstery in Van Nuys for other (non-Porsche) products, and found their work to be top notch.

I purchased a seat kit from World upholstery for my 74 coupe (non-sport, vinyl) seats.
I did the install myself & it turned out pretty good. I suspect that a pro would make it come out better and IF I ever redo the seats for my 84 (hopefully this will not be necessary any time soon!), then i will pay the cost to have them done rather than fight them for a solid weekend to do it myself.
I found the kit to be an excellent match to the rest of the original interior and they were also an excellent fit.

Dan: Pete's Auto Top recently did my SC seats - they are beautiful. He's on Pico & Sherbourne (spell ?), phone (310) 271-5550. I've dealt with Pete for many, many years, on many, many cars. His work is very good, consistently.

Thanks Pete! I'll look into them doing my dash/headliner swap (when I finally get all of the pieces!)
