thinking about getting a 964

In the UK the RS model holds a massive premium over the 'Ordinary C2' you can pick up a good useable C2 in LHD for £10k but a LHD RS will cost you £30k. Crazy money when you look at it on paper, especialy given that most are bought for trackwork.
I would hazzard that you could buy a C2 for £10k strip it, sell the parts you didn't need for enough to finance any brake/suspension upgrades and proabably come out under your £10k initial purchase price.
Does an RS make any sense for trackwork? IMHO no, but it is alovely rare care for the collector.

I take no sides, invite no flames - just wish to pass on that a good friend has a 77 Carrera Cabrio (converted by him from a Targa). He loves his car, but considered buying a 964 because they seemed to be priced so reasonably. Long story shortened; Genuine Porsche Mechanic, who has no axes to grind, told him they're priced so reasonably maybe because they require a lot of expensive maintenance, and are very expensive to repair - told him to keep his Carrera.
