Tranny Rebuild - Motor Out - '85 Targa, What Else Should be Done?
Ok - So I am finally having the tranny fully rebuilt due to bad synchros in my '85 targa. The motor and tranny were dropped out today.
I'm interested in your opinions on what other work should be done while she's apart.
Just FYI: She is showing 127k and runs like new.
I'm already having the following work performed:
- Tranny Rebuild
- New Clutch
- Valve Job
- Valve Cover Gaskets
- Stainless Header
- Stainless Exhaust
- Tune Up
- Power Chip
Other Suggestions?

I suggest the following:
test internal t-stat
replace internal t-stat o-ring
replace oil pressure switch
check all vacuum & fuel lines for cracks & replace as needed

Thanks Mark.. I will have my p-tech check those items and replace as needed.
Regarding a new muffler on her - I decided against the headers.. keeping that stock since I'll never pass inspection here in NJ w/out a cat. So... anyone have suggestions for a decent muffler alone? That is... One that sounds good, will give me a bit of performance increase and cost less than $1000.00??
Looking over at Pelican - seems for anything decent I'll be paying 1k. So, any advice on what and where to buy would be appreciated. I haven't checked my most recent Porsche Performance catalog yet, but that's my next step.
Any and all advice or experiences welcomed!
Thanks!

yeah check the fuel line that curves under the intake that goes from fuel rail to fuel rail, those usually spring a leak, from the factory the line is close to $500, but you can have a nice race quality one made for alot less.
Ever think of adding 964 cams since your already doing a valve job?
