Post intermittent speedo

I've now owed my '88 911 coupe for 2 weeks. I'm
loving it! Noticed that the speedo sometimes drops
to zero and will go back to speed without hitting bumps or turning or tapping the gauge. Is the speed sensor usually the culprit ? Thanks for any info

Replace the speedo transiter sender, I had replaced this item 3 time already in my 87 car

My car only has 40K miles, and look like it fail at every 15K mile

Thanks Tan, My 88 only has 49k. I noticed it when I road tested the car. The seller said it
had just started happening. ( I did a carfax to verify mileage anyway!)

Replace this unit is very easy and part cost about $60.00 , buy it from thepartsbin.com
