Im having a hard time identifying just what transmission is on my new 1971 911t...

Serial number stamped on bottom is 328 1353

Number stamped on side of transmission (drivers side, side of casing is 901 301.101.02

This is a 901 transmission from what I can tell. The 901 was used up until 1972, and the model you have (if original) is a magnesium housing 1969-1971. SOURCE: Bruce Anderson's performance handbook, pg 226-227.

According to my factory spec book listing serial number ranges for different gearboxes this is a Type 902/1 gearbox; ratios A-F-M-S-X with 7:31 Regular R&P, it was used in 911 and 911L in 1968. This should have a cast aluminum case.

If I read my spec books correctly the MY 1971 gearboxs have first 3 digits in numbering as 711 or 771 for the 5 speed boxes. These have cast magnesium case. Hope this helps
