The 911T...Any thoughts on it?

Well everyone, last Saturday morning proved to be the makings of a steller day in scenic metro Detroit: a day most appropriate for having a go in a 911.
But, to no avail, once I made it to the rendevous point, the dark clouds rolled in followed by some sprinkles.
Upon arriving I have to say I was disappointed with the condition of the car, bad paint with plenty of scratches (it was advertised as in "excellent" condition; providing me with misleading visions of a car not unlike Mr. Olson's waiting for my inspection) and further dissapointed that the owner was drying the car off with a roll of paper towels <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />
Upon closer inspection, quite a few spots of rust were evident, even on the 3 year old SC flares.
Not one to turn down a drive, I found a GREAT dislike for the 901, but appreciated the quick steering and overall "pureness" of the drive.
A couple things I found odd was the inability of the seat to slide back for my 6' frame and the way the fuel gauge "bounces" around while driving.
Power was not a good as I would have like as well.
In accordance with my original post, I have been eyeing some 240z's, and am scheduled to view one tomorrow here locally....
Perhaps I should nix both choices for now, save my well earned keep, and aim for newer 911 (I usually look at the article in "excellence" featuring Josh Ofstein's gourgeous silver SC at least once a week!)
Thanks again, everyone, for their input!

Don't give up the hunt for an older 911.
Try to drive one with the 915 tranny. I have driven both and although a bit quirky, the 915 is not a bad ride.
Given the poor condition of the car you saw, I would suggest you continue looking. I must have looked at dozens before I found my rust free example. some of them were real pits and drive awfully. Find one in good shape to get an idea of what the potential is. It can be stunning.
