I had done a 9004 true HID-conversion on my 95 Taurus SHO, and like was mentioned, it was a single-position (low beam) only type. I liked it very much except for long open highways and when new pavement was wet.

On my current 95 SHO, I did a Sylvania Silverstar 9004, with Sylvania Xenarc X1010 HID fogs, retaining the high/low with a better bulb, and getting my HIDs with the auxiliary / foglights. I am going to see if I can get the foglights on the '84 911 to use the X1010 as it's a much better fog / driving light. As for the stock high / low / H4 setup, I don't know if they've made conversion kits with true HID's yet, but there are now dual-position (high/low) 9004-based HIDs now (pricey, between $400-$900 for the kits last I looked).

Since the HIDs use less power, I'd imagine a true HID w/ independent ballasts would be easier on the turn signal switch as well, but that's just a guess.

Anybody know where I can get driving light lenses for the factory fog lights that came on the 911 SC? I know that back in the day, the driving lights and the fog lights were both available and identical, but for the lens. I believe that the fog lights are Hellas, although the H-4 headlamps are Bosch.

Thanks.
