Default Flywheel for Racing

Land speed racing rules say "no cast flywheels." Is the flywheel on a 911 cast? I have a 1977 911S, non-turbo. I might not set any records, but thought it would be fun, especially since I live only 2 hours from the Salt Flats.

Since I may be buying a flywheel anyway, might as well make it fit NHRA, too. It may be a dream, but if you go faster than 12's in the 1/4, NHRA rules say you need to have a SFI spec. Any recommendations for such a rating for a 911 flywheel?

Thanks for the help!

P.S. my alias refers to burning gasoline -- those fossilized dinosaurs, made into gasoline, and the lucky few briefly enjoying a form of reincarnation by spinning a 911 motor.

E-D... not to worry. Very little risk of cracking 12s in a 77 911.

Agreed, hard to do with the stock motor! I won't be stock.

Hi:

We use a 6061-T6, steel faced, 6 lb one that holds up very well as well as allowing the engine to spin up quicker.

I've had one on my own 250 HP 2.7 for 20+ years,....
