Default Engine Tin

Now that the motor is out of my 82 SC, I'm cleaning up the tin that surrounds the engine (the bits where the heater hoses go through etc.. I've got a couple pieces that are rusted through and my attempts to patch them have made the problem worse.. Any recomendations of where one can go get those pieces.

There are companies that make fiberglass and carbon fiber versions (mine are from www.mashaw.com) and GT Racing has them too. There are probably ways to find the metal ones too, but I haven't looked.

Good luck,
Grant

I believe you can still get them through Porsche. Check one of the discounting Porsche dealers.

One thing I've done on metal that was in poor shape, was to use one of the POR-15 kits (cleaner, metal stripper, and POR-15 paint) with some of their fiberglass reinforcing cloth. The paint dries rock hard, and with the fiberglass cloth, you can bridge smallish holes in the metal. They have a pretty good website at www.por15.com (no affiliation, very satisfied with their products).

I might suggest 20th Street Auto Parts. www.20thstreetauto.com
I have bought from them and had good results with used parts.
Good Luck
