Default Mechanic in LA area

My SC is falling apart. I need a new mechanic. I want the best there is in the Los Angeles area. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Alex

I will see your recommendation and raise it.
I will forever take my Porsche to Rob at Dutch Treat in Lawndale (just South of LAX off the 405 at Inglewood Ave. then North two blocks on the right)
He has always been 100% up front on what needs to be done and he has offered/provided his expert advice on several issues for free.
He is quite likely the most reputible mechanic I have ever dealt with. He took over the shop from his father & he has been factory trained multiple times.
He can be reached at (310) 644 - 1006
Be sure to let him know that I referred you (maybe I'll get a T-shirt someday!)

I'll second the recommendation for TRE Motorsports.

I'd have to second the recommendation for Robert Wessels - Owner/Proprietor of Dutch Treat Porsche, 15200 Inglewood Ave. He without a doubt has the most integrity of any technician that I have ever allowed to work on my cars (and his labour rate for 911/930s is surprisingly affordable as well). He will tell you what is needed, based upon your goals, and has never once tried to sell me any work/parts that were not needed. I hate having others work on my vehicles, but without a suitable space to do my own wrenching here in LA, Robert's is the only shop that I have ever used on my 930......

It seems that there are quite a few recommended Porsche technicians/shops in the greater Los Angeles area.
I have only ever heard bad/unfavorable comments about 1 shop in particular, and it has only confirmed my previous experience with Dutch Treat.
I will say this: The 915 gearbox in my 84 was supposedly rebuilt by the techs at pacific Porsche in Torrance (after the move from Hermosa Beach) prior to my purchasing the car. I have no doubt that the car was actually serviced as the PO is completley reputible. The problem is that I cannot shift into 1st gear while rolling, regardless of speed, without a noticeable grind.
This was pointed out during my PPI (at Dutch Treat by Rob), but it seemed too little of an issue to stop the sale. I thought it was a small issue.
I have owned the car for nearly 6 months now, & I honestly can't wait for Rob to rebuild the trans (when it is required, of course) to make it right.

It would depend on what you need done.

What do you need done to your SC?

Marc Bixen at Red Line in Santa Monica - he can do anything necessary to an SC to bring it into technically correct condition... (310) 450-7414.

Otto's in Venice is one of the best in L.A. A straight-shooter, been working on Porsches forever, and like TRE, he personally kicks *** on the track as well.
