Talking Christmas came early -- sort of

My wife just got me the best Christmas present that I have ever received (yes, even better than a Daisy Red-Rider BB Gun!).
She bought me a championship 1-day racing certificate for California Speedway.
I get 56 hot laps and a solid day of instruction/training.
Granted, it's not Road Atlanta on a new Porsche, but it is the closest thing I'll ever get.

I did Road Atlanta back in October with Panoz (2 day), incredible track. Back straight's LOOOOOOOONG, like pull a book out & read it kind of long, and unless you have 300+ hp, you're getting passed all the way down it. Turns 3 / 4 are the trickiest. After 45 minutes straight on the morning of the 2nd day I ended up launching a connecting rod through the pan in my Taurus SHO, but I'd go back in a heartbeat.

That sounds like an incredible time at California, congrats & have fun! Sounds like the wife's definitely a keeper!

Oh, she's a keeper alright!
They use Nascar type (Chevy V8) stock cars. I'm not sure about HP, but I'll bet it is 'sufficient' for the task of going FAST.
Granted, the track leaves a bit to be desired for most racing enthusiasts found on Rennlist, but a 2 mile D-shaped oval seems like a GREAT opportunity to open up a fast car.

To think she bought this after I got a speeding ticket on my way back from Carlsbad to LA in the Carrera last month! She didn't even flip out about the ticket. Perhaps she was planning on using it as ammo for the Benz purchase if I objected?!
