Post 911 Purchase...Need Advice

I met a new friend who is bitten by the Porsche Bug. He is looking at a 1988 Carrera Targa(81xxx miles) and has asked for my advice. I do not know much about this model, but I do know who to ask. Could you give me some direction on what to look for, what to watch out for, what are the costly maintenance items,is this a desirable model, engine issues, etc. Your help and input are well appreciated in advance.

Great year, should be least worrisome of all the accordian bumper cars but get the Pre Purchase Inspection @ John Walker's workshop / Greenlake (206)789-6800, if you want a good evaluation.

John will let you know what you're looking at. Let him know I sent you.

Also check out the auctions on ebay, and other soruces (excellence etc.). This will give your friend an idea of what the car might be worth.
