I woke this am and tried to start the car. It would not even turn. I worked great 10hrs earlier. It was about 30, but that probably does not matter. Does any one have an idea what i should look for. Luckily my wife did not need to go anywhere today so i was able to take her car to work. I have been using the car as a daily driver and it has been running great. I just had it in the shop shortly after purchasing had valves adjusted, carbs adjusted, and points replaced. I know cars dont heal on their own but i hope it will start for me when i get home. The battery is new by, the way.
Thanks

I will try to jump when i go home, but the red alt light came on pretty strong and the battery is new.....hope that is the case though. How would i know if it is the starter or coil?

If the battery is strong and the starter fails a substantial click is usually heard as the starter tries to work. A bad coil can't prevent the engine from cranking over... things can happen at the gauges without enough voltage to crank/start the car. Check your light switch position, etc., I think you accidentally left something powered up.

unfortunately the battery is not the problem, did not have much time to investigate tonight , but when key is turned this is no clicking or any engine noise at all. Just a electrical type whine.

I'd say its still starter motor related. I dont have a 911, yet, so not sure where the starter is exactly. Presume it hangs off the flywheel though.
Get down near where the starter is, and get someone else to crank it over for you. If you can safely get your hand on the starter motor and "feel" if the motor in the starter is spinning, but nothing is happening, then your problem is there. Safety first though. Be careful. I seem to remember a very similar thing happening to a VW Beetle, (distant cousin of your car), of mine years ago. New starter motor or relay fixed mine from memory. Hope this helps.

It would be helpful to know what your battery voltage is: 11.8?, 12.1?, 12.4? If you have a VOM, measure the voltage...
Also, I guess there is a remote possibility that the ignition switch died...
You say that your car is a "T", but you use "Battery" in the singular. What year & model exactly do you have?
