Pulled out of the driveway this am to take the 911 to the office for a while and heard a metallic ping when I pushed in the clutch. The heavy metal auxilary return spring on the transmission snapped. Picked upa new one at the dealer and installed on the lever. Can't seem to figure out how it goes back on the pin though (even reviewed procedure in Bentley manual).
Any tips on the reinstall??

mm86--When that spring broke, what were the results as far as driving the car. Inoperable? Were you able to drive at all?
Should we be carrying a spare in the car on long trips?

The spring that broke was the coil unit on the clutch lever at the bottom of the trans. It is basically a "helper" spring to make the pedal effort bearable. I drove the car home and remember driving another porsche with same "gorilla" clutch pedal - must have had broken spring also. I don't see any need to carry a spare - besides cost around $60 at the dealer!
